As I gear up for the last message in our HELP! series, I want to look back at this weekend:
- Incredible ENERGY! It’s such a joy to connect weekly with a group of people who are glad to be at church.
- The band knocked it out of the park with ‘Across the Universe’… I never knew Beatles songs were so hard until we tried them. We have the greatest team ‘across the universe’!
- NEGATIVITY Talk: I had a blast with this topic. As you search the Scriptures, you will find that God is not NEUTRAL about NEGATIVITY. He takes it personally! We’re saying, “God, I don’t believe… God, I don’t trust, etc.” It is destructive, and we need to look for the ‘every thing excellent & worthy of praise’ [philippians 4] in EVERY situation!
- We’re GEARING UP for our 4 year anniversary! More on that this week!

As I’m preparing for this weekend’s talk (NEGATIVITY), I’m blown away by the MASSIVE amount of biblical content that addresses this topic!

These are just a few… FUN!!!
The HELP! series is blowing my mind! The response has been incredible. First of all, I’m LOVING speaking on these issues. I haven’t done much study on some of these topics, so it’s a true blast to learn so much of what God has to say about our human condition.
This past week’s MAIN IDEA: Exchange your WORRY for PRAYER.
Perhaps the most surprising moment for me was when I asked everyone: “How is worry working for you? Are your friends and loved ones lining up to THANK YOU for your worrisome ways?” I thought this would be one of those hard, silent, challenging moments… I was met with LAUGHTER! Everyone connected with the reality that WORRY doesn’t add any quality to our lives!
I was overwhelmed by the packed crowd and lives changed forever.

Unbelievable! We had an incredible weekend at Keystone as we launched our new series, HELP!
A couple of thoughts:
- We discussed CONTROL ISSUES… Are you a CONTROL FREAK?
- Sometimes we’re so busy and controlling about ‘building our lives’ that we’re actually LOSING our lives
- The greatest tragedy of CONTROL ISSUES is that you are completely missing the life God offers you
- Embrace the dance between you and God… make your plans / Give God utter control (Proverbs 16:9)
- So many life-changing decisions!
- So many first time guests!
- We launched our 5th & 6th grade program at ‘THE LODGE’… it was INCREDIBLE!!!
- THE BAND did a MIND-BLOWING job weaving Beatles songs as illustrations of our human needs
Now, time for me to hit the hay… AWESOME WEEKEND!!!
So, I’m driving to Westlake for a lunch with a friend, and on the side of the road I saw this…
I’ve seen this friend before, but never so close to the road… so I slammed on the HAZARDS and took a pic.
This weekend, we won’t have our friendly camel but I promise that God will show up and SURPRISE you with a life-changing experience!

Whenever we expect guests at the Thomas house, we GET THE HOUSE READY! Last night, in preparation for the new faces and stories we expect in the next 12 weeks, an energized group of KEYSTONERS got the house ready!
This weekend, as we launch our new series (HELP!), there will be many improvements to the campus… keep a look out!!! It was inspiring to see so many excited people working so hard to prepare our building to welcome treasured guests.
I LOVE THIS CHURCH!!!
This weekend was very, very LIVELY.
- The word for the weekend at Keystone: CHALLENGE. God has really challenged my heart to regularly CHALLENGE this great church to do amazing things through Christ… This weekend’s challenge: GO & BAPTIZE (Matthew 28)!!! RESULT: we had almost 20 families join my ’street team,’ advertising the goings on at Keystone… AND, we had 22 people commit to be biblically baptized!!!
- Went dove hunting… pics coming. I’m not a fanatical hunter, but it challenged me and it was a real blast. Plus, great times with my family.
- TENNESSEE lost to UCLA. Major disappointment. That’s about all I want to say about that, Forest.
